The Best Viewpoints in Sri Lanka

For a compact island, Sri Lanka delivers an outsized share of jaw-dropping panoramas. The Cultural Triangle's twin rocks, Sigiriya and Pidurangala, stare at each other across a sea of jungle canopy; the hill country serves up dawn hikes to Little Adam's Peak and Ella Rock, the vertigo-inducing cliff edge of World's End, and the tea-carpeted ridgelines of Lipton's Seat, where the tea baron himself surveyed his empire. Down south, Coconut Tree Hill frames the Indian Ocean through a grove of leaning palms. Most of these viewpoints reward an early start: mist fills the valleys by mid-morning in the highlands.
