இலங்கையின் மிகப்பெரிய நீர்ப்பாசன நீர்த்தேக்கங்களில் ஒன்றான கிளிநொச்சிக்கு தென்கிழக்கே உள்ள பரந்த நீர்ப்பரப்பு பறவைகள் மற்றும் கிராமிய அமைதியால் சூழப்பட்டுள்ளது.

கண்ணோட்டம்

இரணைமடு குளம் என்பது மாவட்டத்தின் நெல் விவசாயத்தின் உயிர்நாடியான கிளிநொச்சி நகரத்திலிருந்து தென்கிழக்கே சில கிலோமீற்றர் தொலைவில் மனிதனால் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட மாபெரும் நீர்த்தேக்கமாகும். அதன் நீண்ட மண் கட்டு, பனை மரங்கள் மற்றும் ஸ்க்ரப் ஆகியவற்றால் மூடப்பட்ட திறந்த நீரின் மேல் தெரிகிறது, உள்ளூர் மற்றும் புலம்பெயர்ந்த பறவைகளை வரைந்து அமைதியான சூரிய உதயம் மற்றும் சூரிய அஸ்தமன காட்சிகளை வழங்குகிறது. இது ஒரு அமைதியான, அவசரமில்லாத இடமாகும்.

வரலாறு

Construction of the tank began in the 1920s under British administration and it was progressively expanded to become one of the largest reservoirs in the country. Its waters irrigate tens of thousands of acres of farmland across the Kilinochchi plains. During the civil war the tank held strategic importance, and its sluices and command area have been rehabilitated as part of the north's post-war reconstruction.
