Aperçu

Le lac Kurunegala est un grand réservoir artificiel situé à la périphérie du centre-ville, une nappe d'eau calme qui reflète Ethagala et les rochers environnants. Une route au bord du lac et un sentier pédestre en font un endroit agréable pour une promenade tôt le matin ou en soirée, avec des oiseaux le long des bas-fonds et un petit sanctuaire insulaire. C'est un moyen simple et gratuit d'échapper à l'agitation du centre-ville.

Histoire

The reservoir was built to supply water to the town and its paddy fields and, like many of the island's tanks, has origins in the ancient irrigation tradition of the dry zone. It still serves as a water source for Kurunegala and forms the scenic centrepiece of the town.
