Maligawila 大佛是一尊宁静的独立式石灰岩雕像，高超过 11 m，从停车场通过一条阴凉的森林小路即可到达。它由整块雕刻而成，描绘了加持姿势的佛陀，是岛上最高的古代独立佛像。附近，通过一条单独的小路到达，矗立着伟大的丹波哥达菩萨雕像，这是一个同样令人印象深刻的观世音菩萨雕像。两座建筑均被发现倒塌、破碎，并经过精心重新组装，安静的树木繁茂的环境增添了它们的宏伟。

历史

The statues are believed to have been commissioned in the 7th century CE by the prince Aggabodhi. Over the centuries they collapsed and lay broken in the jungle until they were rediscovered in the 1950s, then reconstructed and re-erected between 1989 and 1991 under a major state restoration programme.
