Le Sri Lanka est un centre du bouddhisme Theravada depuis plus de deux mille ans, et ses temples vont des sanctuaires rupestres peints du sol au plafond avec des peintures murales aux dagobas blancs colossaux qui comptaient parmi les structures les plus hautes du monde antique.
